The 8th Wonder of the World

Albert Einstein once said, “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it.” But let’s dive a bit deeper into this wonder and see how it plays out in the real world.

Imagine this: The average American household debt has skyrocketed to a staggering $17.5 trillion1. This isn’t just a number; it’s the kind of compound interest that keeps you chained to a job you despise for decades, just to make those relentless payments. Picture yourself walking through a bustling city, gazing up at the towering skyscrapers with names like “Bank of America” and “Wells Fargo” emblazoned on them. Ever wondered where they get all that money? It’s from the hard-earned dollars of regular folks, slaving away to pay off their $8,594 worth of annual debt payments2.

Now, let’s flip the script. Investing is the good kind of compound interest. It’s like planting a money tree that grows and bears fruit over time. By putting your money into productive assets like index funds or investment real estate, you let it work for you, growing bigger and bigger with each passing year.

So, don’t buy into the debt mentality. It only benefits the banks. Live below your means, pay off all your debt, and invest those former debt payments. That’s the secret sauce to building wealth. Remember, the rich get richer by making their money work for them, not the other way around.

As always, keep these two golden rules in mind: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often. That’s how you build wealth and break free from the chains of bad debt. Happy investing!

Complaints

The best way to complain is to make things better.

Complaining can be a form of intimacy. It’s a useful way to explain our behavior. And best of all, it gives us a way to communicate as we work to create community action. The rest sort of complaint requires generosity and courage.

Complaining isn’t whining, though. Whining is communication that exasperates others, because it is complaint without benefit or action. The best traveling companions are often those that don’t whine, even when they have a very good reason to. Whining is empty commentary where no action is possible, about something we already understand.

We all know it’s raining.

Tech: Update Your Passwords

As we bid farewell to February, here’s a tech tip to help you stay ahead of the game: Take some time to review and update your passwords!

With cyber threats constantly evolving, it’s crucial to ensure your online accounts are secure. Use a password manager (I highly recommend and I personally use Bitwarden) to create and store strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts. This not only enhances your security but also saves you the hassle of remembering multiple passwords.

Stay safe and tech-savvy!
