We humans are irrational.
We add undue weight to certain milestone dates, while dismissing others.
It’s why we promise to change our lives every New Years Eve, or why we reflect on our decisions each time we reach a major birthday.
But this is the wrong way to approach life-changing decisions.
Any moment can be a new beginning.
And a random Monday in April is the perfect time to embrace that idea.
Let’s imagine for a second that you set yourself big and exciting goals for 2024.
What happens if you begin to fall behind on those goals?
What’s the plan if you feel like you’re not going to reach them this year?
If your immediate answer is “I’ll wait until next year”, we need to talk.
The average life expectancy in the USA is just 80.9 years.
You’re probably at least a third, or more than half of the way through your time on this earth already.
If you only have another 20-50-or-so chances to reset your life, you’re quickly going to run out of time.
But it doesn’t need to be this way, because any moment can be a new beginning.
So let’s change the scale of how we imagine new beginnings.
What if you approached every Monday with the same energy of renewal that you bring to each new year?
What if you decided that the start of every week was an opportunity to reset, recalibrate, and make sure that you’re building a life you’re proud of?
Suddenly, you go from having 80 new beginnings in life, to 4,160.
You don’t need to do anything to win those additional 4,080 opportunities.
You just need to change the way you think.
Every Monday can be a chance for you to begin again in life.
Including tomorrow.
What are you going to do with this new beginning?
